I was fortunate to have 'grown-up' on fantastic musky and walleye waters. As a child, my grandparents had a beautiful cabin on Lake of the Woods near Morrison, Canada, and my parents owned a cabin on 'the famous' Chippewa Flowage in Wisconsin. My first fishing experiences were on world class musky and walleye waters such as these. It set the stage for a lifelong passion for fishing and a future of guiding and tournament fishing.

During high school, my family moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota - the heart of Itasca County - land of over 1,000 lakes. The area is a fisherman's playground, and still to this day, I am enchanted by the waters of Leech Lake, Lake Winnie and Pokegama Lake; all located within thirty minutes of my home. It was during this time that I met fellow angler, Randy Topper, who I played high school football and graduated with. After high school, I attended college and graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth where I met my wife, Melissa. We eventually moved back to the Grand Rapids area and started a family. We are truly blessed to have three amazing children, Kate, Liam and Emma. I have fished competitively and guided throughout numerous waters in Minnesota. Since 2014, I have found great success tournament fishing. My co-anglers and I qualified for three national championships (on multiple circuits) and went on to win an MWC event on Cass Lake. I'm currently employed as the Environmental Services Director for Itasca County and have a keen interest in bowhunting, golf and aviation. I've been fortunate to have great sponsors and support through: Ray's Sport and Marine, Lund Boats, Motorguide and Mercury Marine. |
